When high school students are tasked with raising funds for charity, most decide to follow the traditional path of hosting benefit car washes or selling chili tickets to come up with donations.

That's not the case for an ambitious group of students from Punahou School, who opted to take the risky leap into concert promotion in hopes of collecting cash for and raising awareness about the American Red Cross' measles vaccination initiative in Africa.

Led by Punahou seniors St. John Kim and James Dowsett, the teens will present “;Band Aid Hawaii 2009”; on Sunday at Aloha Tower Marketplace. Along with students Kevin Chung, Kelsey Ige, Coco Ikeda, Jenna Louie, George Tang and Kaity Yim, Kim and Dowsett took control of the entire production, working with Hawaii American Red Cross CEO Coralie Matayoshi and Events at the Tower's Crystal Evans to conceive and execute the benefit concert.

Local band Big Every Time will be joined by

Ooklah the Moc's Brad “;BW”; Watanabe and friends to provide entertainment throughout the early evening; a variety of food vendors will be on hand to provide dining options for guests. In addition to live entertainment, a silent auction is also planned.
