If he isn't adept at multitasking already, Wyatt Tau certainly will be by the end of the 2010-11 school year.

Tau is the new boys basketball coach at Campbell High School, adding to his resume as the current head track coach and assistant football coach at his alma mater.

He leaves as Aiea's varsity coach to replace Zaricke Jackson, and becomes the fifth Sabers coach in six years.

Tau hopes to lend stability in his hometown Ewa Beach by getting back to basics. Campbell made it to the state tournament last year but was knocked out by Punahou in the opening round.

“;My attack is going to be fundamentals and having these guys pay attention and listen to what I'm asking,”; Tau said. “;Just happy to be home.”;

  Tau coached Aiea the last three years, turning Na Alii from a bottom feeder to a title contender. Aiea finished fourth in the Division II state tournament in 2007 and was runner-up to Farrington for the D-II title in 2008 using an exciting, up-and-down style of play.

“;With the opportunity, I'm going to try my best to do what I did at Aiea,”; Tau said. “;I want to keep (my style). I think that was successful for me. With the talent I see at Campbell, I see the kids running the same program I was running. I'm going to stick with the up-tempo game, maybe work the ball more inside.”;

Last year involved a lot of going back and forth between Aiea and Campbell for him as he tended to Na Alii basketball and Sabers track and football.

“;I wanted to be in one place,”; Tau said. “;I was offered the job after the state track meet, and I would be a fool not to take it. Everything is here. I live in Ewa Beach. I've always wanted to come back.”;
