Woman accused of hitting bus driver with handbag
A 28-year-old woman believed to be homeless has been charged with striking a bus driver on the head twice after being asked to quiet down.
Sasha Moses was charged Monday after striking TheBus driver Lester Yoshino at 6:40 p.m. Sunday.
Roger Morton, president and general manager of TheBus, said yesterday there were 50 passengers on the Route A (Waipahu to the University of Hawaii) bus, which was stopped at North King Street and Dillingham Boulevard—one of the busiest locations.
Morton said the suspect appeared to be agitated and struck Yoshino with her handbag, then fled.
Yoshino reported the incident and police found the suspect, who was brought back to the bus and identified by Yoshino.
Morton said “;interference with transit operator”; is a Class C felony and is considered a major crime.
“;When you have a lot of people in a confined space, we take these type of incidents very seriously,”; Morton said. “;If it happens even once, it happens too often.”;
