Victorino singles in All-Star debut
POSTED: Wednesday, July 15, 2009
ST. LOUIS >> Maui's Shane Victorino of the Philadelphia Philles scored a tying run in the second inning of the National League's eventual 4-3 loss to the American League in the All-Star game.
Victorino singled to right and scored for a 2-all tie on the next play after a single to center by St. Louis' Yadier Molina and an error.
Victorino struck out in his only other at-bat in the fourth inning.
Before the game, Victorino gave President Barack Obama a gift of macadamia nuts. The players were advised not to give Obama anything, but Victorino did anyway, and his teammates howled.
