Man arrested in accident
Police arrested a 34-year-old Hauula man on suspicion of first-degree negligent injury after his car struck and critically injured a 30-year-old man Monday night near the entrance to Kokololio Beach Park in Laie.
The man, a Laie resident, suffered a head wound and internal injuries, police said. He was taken in critical condition to the Queen's Medical Center.
Police said the motorist was driving a green 1996 Honda toward Kahuku at 8:34 p.m. when a pedestrian ran across Kamehameha Highway. The man was not in a crosswalk, police said.
The driver, who was also arrested for suspicion of driving without a license, was released later pending investigation.
