State to begin upgrades at Kauai park
Renovations at Opaekaa Falls lookout, one of the top visitor destinations in Wailua River State Park on Kauai, will begin Monday.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said the upgrades include improving walkways, replacing guardrails, installing a viewing platform and resurfacing and re-striping the parking lot.
The improvements are part of the state's continuing efforts to upgrade state parks for the safety and comfort of residents and visitors, said Laura H. Thielen, director of the DLNR.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority funded the $311,504 project, which is expected to be completed in October.
