SALT LAKE CITY » After taking its fight to change the Bowl Championship Series to Congress, the Mountain West Conference is reluctantly agreeing to a BCS television deal.
The Western Athletic Conference presidents also voted unanimously to agree to the deal with ESPN yesterday.
“;We have no choice,”; Boise State president Bob Kustra told the Idaho Statesman. “;The repercussions were just too dramatic and too costly.”;
The WAC attached a letter to its contract that explained “;the concerns we have”; and “;strong objection to the BCS structure,”; Kustra said.
The WAC and MWC do not receive an automatic berth to a BCS game and were the last of the 11 conferences to sign. The two had until today to sign or not be allowed to participate in the five BCS games.
