Ka Ulukoa earns bronze at JOs
Ka Ulukoa topped High Line 25-22, 25-18 to win the bronze medal in the Boys 14 Open division at the USAV Junior Olympics yesterday.
Ka Ulukoa fell to eventual runner-up Halcones de Torrimar of Puerto Rico, 25-18, 25-16, in the semifinals. Ku'Ikahi finished tied for 15th in the division.
In 17 Open, Outrigger Canoe Club (7-1) was the top seed heading into today's quarterfinals. OCC swept Riptides 25-17, 25-19, and SCVC, 25-18, 25-20, yesterday.
Hilo tops KAC for Pony title
Reyn Kihara tossed a four-hitter and RJ Iyo's two-run double in the sixth provided the deciding runs as Hilo defeated KAC 5-3 in the P.O.N.Y. Hawaii Regional Pony Tournament championship game at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Hilo advances to the West Zone Tournament for 13-14 year-olds in Fullerton, Calif. Play is July 31 to Aug. 3.
