Victorino on another ballot

Maui's Shane Victorino finished fifth in National League All-Star voting and wasn't selected as a reserve by his manager, but Philadelphia's spark plug gets another shot at making the team for the first time.

Charlie Manuel submitted Victorino's name for MLB's “;final vote,”; which will determine the last player on each squad.

Victorino's competition is Washington shortstop Christian Guzman, Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, Arizona third baseman Mark Reynolds and San Francisco third baseman Pablo Sandoval. Fans can vote on mlb.com until 10 a.m. Thursday.

St. Francis names volleyball coach

Sonja Samsonas was named the new girls volleyball coach at St. Francis School yesterday.

Samsonas worked her way up the coaching ranks at Kaiser High School and coached the varsity Cougars from 2005 through last season.

She is a counselor at Palolo Elementary School.
