Malakai “;Mo”; Maumalanga of the Adult Friends for Youth, was awarded the Farrington Way Award for helping youth and promoting safety at Farrington High School. A former client of Adult Friends for Youth, Maumalanga helps conduct Peace Council counseling group sessions with members from different gangs, social, or ethnic groups to work out their differences.



Kapolei Property Development donated $150,000 from the James Campbell Company to provide for technology needs of area schools, including: Kapolei High School, which received $30,000; Kapolei Middle, $30,000; Campbell High, $10,000; Nanakuli High and Intermediate, $10,000; Waianae High, $10,000; Kapolei Elementary, $15,000; Barbers Point Elementary, $15,000; Makakilo Elementary, $15,000; and Mauka Lani Elementary, $15,000.
