Question: What's required to become a foster care volunteer with the Hawaiian Humane Society?

Answer: Simply complete a volunteer application available at hawaiianhumane.org and attend a few trainings. Fostering animals is a commitment of time and care depending on the animal's needs. Typically temporary homes and care is about two to four weeks for short-term fostering of younger cats and dogs.

There's also tremendous need for volunteers who are willing to foster animals for six months or longer. Long-term fostering is typically for older animals that are owned and from loving families. Their owners may be active-duty military who are suddenly deployed with no one to help, or others in urgent need or crises.
