Phoenix Dance Chamber will give a half-hour performance at 2 p.m. today at the Kaimuki Public Library. The performers share a common interest in Chinese dance and have a repertoire of more than 30 dances.

Academy of Arts offers special deals
» There are a couple of good sales at the Honolulu Academy of Arts coming up. Through Tuesday, the Academy Shop, the museum's gift shop, is offering 25 to 30 percent off selected artist biographies, jewelry and T-shirts.
Next up: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 11 and 12, the Academy Art Center (kitty corner to the museum, at 1111 Victoria St.) will offer art books at rock bottom prices. Boxes of books will go for $5 and $10.
» This month's Art Lunch lecture features Linda Kane, an artist who enjoys uncovering history. In her talk, “;Digging through the Past,”; Kane will discuss her process of layering charcoal, ink or wax onto paper and then erasing, excising and exposing previous layers as a metaphor for her inspirations: archaeological site visits and the elusive quality of memories.
The free talk will be held at noon Tuesday at the Hawaii State Art Museum, 250 S. Hotel St. Call 586-0900.
