» The 11th Annual Bernice Pauahi Bishop Awards went to restaurateur Roy Yamaguchi and Grace Pacific Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Hulihe'e for their outstanding leadership and support of the Bishop Museum.

» Haleakala Waldorf School is this year's winner of the sixth annual $10,000 Bank of Hawaii Mike Lyons Maui Community Award. The award is in honor of the late Michael H. Lyons II, a retired Bank of Hawaii senior vice president and Maui district manager, and dedicated community leader.

» D.R. Horton-Schuler Division donated a total of $25,000 to Barbers Point, Ewa, Maili, Makakilo and Mauka Lani elementary schools for participating in the company's Read-to-Win program, which allows students to win money for their school for reaching reading goals.
