'Holidate' seeking island girls
POSTED: Saturday, June 27, 2009
Single and unsatisfied with the selection of men on the island? ABC/Soapnet intends to change that with a new reality series called “;Holidate,”; inspired by the Kate Winslet/Cameron Diaz movie “;Holiday.”; And yes, they want women from Hawaii to apply for auditions.
The show is looking for single, polished, attractive, educated, professional women of all ethnicities age 28 to 40 to participate. With a theme entitled “;Anywhere But Here,”; each episode will feature two women from different cities. They have the career and friends they want, but aren't having any luck in their respective dating pools. So each will set up the other with male friends in her home city—three dates in three days, according to Los Angeles-based casting director Shannon Powers.
“;It's a sweet, organic show,”; said Powers, who insisted that it will be devoid of surprises. Just legitimate set-ups and romantic excursions.
Powers is planning to come to Hawaii to screen potential candidates for “;Holidate,”; which starts airing at the end of July, but wants to line up her appointments in advance. She hopes to shoot here as well. To request an interview, e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
