Question: Every night my wife feeds our cat milk. Is milk good for cats?
Answer: Large intakes of milk may cause diarrhea in cats that lack the enzyme necessary for dairy digestion.Cats are true carnivores, which means they depend upon a meat-based diet. They require ample protein and different nutrients than dogs, such as taurine (an essential amino acid), arachidonic acid (fatty acid), and pre-formed vitamin A (rather than beta-carotene)—all of which are found only in animal tissues. Due to these dietary differences, it is especially important to only provide food that is formulated specifically for cats.
