Blaisdell to welcome MMA fans at expo

Mixed martial arts fans and competitors alike are invited to the Blaisdell Concert Hall this weekend for the “;Hawaii MMA Sports and Fitness Expo,”; presented by IMMAE and IMMAE-Hawaii.

More than 100 exhibitors are expected to participate in the three-day event, which will also feature a full complement of MMA exhibition matches, martial arts seminars and fitness competitions. Event organizer Brian Paul Jaus, who was born on Oahu, has also announced appearances by TapouT Clothing's SkySkrape and former ICON Sport champ Jason “;Mayhem”; Miller.

Center's 'Swap' a lesson in money for kids

The Hawaii Children's Discovery Center brings its always-popular “;Keiki Swap Meet”; back to Kakaako this weekend.

Designed to teach kids about the value of money, economics and trade in a fun atmosphere, the swap meet needs support from the general public to provide customers for those who participate. While adults will be present to monitor sales and provide moral support, the majority of work involved in collecting items, pricing them and collecting the cash will be handled by the kids themselves.

Admission to the “;Keiki Swap Meet”; is free; the event is scheduled to take place at Kakaako Gateway Park, directly across the street from the Children's Discovery Center. Parking is free for park users.
