I'm always happy to add another group to “;Meeting Roll Call,”; this column's regular roundup of anime/manga fan gatherings.

In the vein of young-adult librarian Diane Masaki's anime club at Aiea Library comes the startup of another library-based club, this time at Liliha Library. There, another young-adult librarian, Tina Arakawa, plans to hold an anime-related gathering on the fourth Saturday of every month. The club kicked off last month with a screening of the first volume of “;Mushi-shi”; - which showed a bit of unplanned synergy with this columnist's work, considering my rave review of that series appeared earlier that week.

This month's gathering will be a bit different. Instead of a traditional anime screening, Arakawa has invited a guest speaker: Roy “;Buma”; Bann, director of the Video Arts Showcase Theater for Kawaii Kon and the musical mastermind behind the “;Buma's Butishake”; dances at the annual anime convention.

Bann will be putting on his VAST hat this time, talking about anime music videos - fan creations where footage from one or more anime series is edited together to match a particular song. Longtime readers of this column will remember one AMV that I recommended in August 2007, Koopiskeva's “;Skittles,”; blending “;The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”; clips with the Japanese hip-hop song “;Candypop”; by the Heartsdales and SOUL'd OUT. (If you haven't seen it yet, check it out at www.hsblinks.com/ck ... it still holds up remarkably well, and the song is STILL lodged firmly in my brain.)

The presentation, recommended for ages 12 and up, will be from 1 to 2 p.m. in the meeting room at the library, located at 1515 Liliha St. Call 587-7577.
