Organization to honor pair of Hawaii auto dealers
Longtime Hawaii automobile dealers Stan and Tony Masamitsu will be honored next month by the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce.
The organization's fifth annual Generational Award will be presented at its annual installation banquet beginning at 6:30 p.m. July 11 the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

Free event to explain Recovery and Reinvestment Act
Small-business owners can learn how the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act can benefit their businesses at a free event from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hawaii Women's Business Center at 1041 Nuuanu Ave.
The act seeks to get capital flowing into small businesses or create or maintain jobs to boost the economy. Required registration can be completed via phone at 541-2990, ext. 205, or online at www.sba.gov/hi.
Labor department promoting apprenticeship
The U.S. Department of Labor will host a free clinic on registered apprenticeship programs for members of the work-force development community from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Ala Moana Hotel Garden Lanai Room.
Registered apprenticeship programs allow companies to implement earn-while-you-learn employee development models.
Government, private sector, secondary and post-secondary education communities as well as labor unions interested in apprenticeship programs are encouraged to attend.

Kona Brewing Co. gets recognized for its quick growth
Kona Brewing Co. was recently named the fastest-growing, top-50 craft brewing company in the country by the Brewers Association, based on 2008 sales figures.
“;Even with the tough economic conditions our country faces, folks still seem to want some liquid aloha,”; said Mattson Davis, president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
Overall the association named Kona Brewing the 14th-largest craft brewing company in the country with 51 percent growth.
Las Vegas airport traffic declines 12 percent in May
Las Vegas airport passenger traffic fell 12 percent in May, signaling gambling revenue in the largest U.S. casino market continues to fall.
McCarran International Airport's passenger arrivals and departures slid to 3.53 million last month from 3.99 million a year earlier, the Clark County Department of Aviation said.
Airlines including US Airways Group Inc. and UAL Corp.'s United have cut flights to Las Vegas as the recession stifles travel demand.
