QUESTION: What should I do if I find a baby bird on the ground? I heard that if you touch it, the mother will reject the baby.

ANSWER: That's a common myth. Human touch to a bird or a nest will not deter a mother from her baby or a family from its nest. The best thing you can do if you find a baby bird on the ground is to locate where it's fallen from and return it to its nest or place it off the ground away from potential predators.

If the mother does not return within 24 hours, you can bring it to the Humane Society. However, more often than not, mother birds return and find their babies.
