Ladies poker champ used to live in Hawaii
A woman originally from Hawaii won the 2009 Ladies Poker Championship (a World Series of Poker event) in Las Vegas yesterday.
Lisa Hamilton claimed the first-place prize of $195,390 and a World Series of Poker winner's bracelet.
The buy-in was $1,000 and Hamilton outlasted 1,059 other entrants.
Hamilton is a cash-game player, but rarely plays in tournaments. She says she has lived in Las Vegas for the past 3-4 years
She came to watch a friend play and did not plan to enter this tournament.
“;I entered at the last minute,”; Hamilton said. “;I kept telling my friend, 'I'm not playing.' I decided to play, and I don't even know how I made it this far. I'm shocked.”;
Hamilton said she will enter the World Series of Poker main event.
