Argument about money ends in man's arrest
Police arrested a 31-year-old Waipahu man Sunday night for allegedly beating and threatening his girlfriend.
The couple had been arguing about money at 7:45 p.m. when the man struck the 24-year-old woman in the face, kicked her several times, then threatened to kill her with a knife, police said.
Police arrested the man at 9:35 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree assault, first-degree terroristic threatening and abuse of a household member.
The woman was taken to Hawaii Medical Center-West.
Hotel roommates fight; 1 choked and threatened
A 47-year-old Massachusetts man who police say choked and threatened at knifepoint a co-worker he was rooming with in Waikiki was arrested Sunday.
Police said the man and the 38-year-old co-worker were in Honolulu for a contract job and shared a Waikiki hotel room.
They got into an argument, and the older man put the younger man in a stranglehold, causing him to fall unconscious.
When the younger man regained consciousness, the suspect threatened to kill him with a knife, police said.
The victim ran from the room. Police located the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree assault.
Shooting in Waipahu nets arrests of 2 Waianae men
Police arrested two Waianae men Friday in connection with a shooting in Waipahu last month.
A 56-year-old and 50-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, firearms and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
Police said a 43-year-old man was sleeping in the vehicle in the early morning hours of May 19 when he was confronted by the 56-year-old man, who was looking for a friend of the victim.
When the younger man responded that he did not know where his friend was, the suspect allegedly fired a shot from a handgun. The bullet missed the victim but shattered the vehicle's window, police said.
Woman injured after jump into water at Kapena Falls
Fire rescue personnel pulled a woman out of the water Sunday at Kapena Falls off Pali Highway.
Fire Capt. Robert Main said the woman injured her back after jumping into the pool at 12:42 p.m.
Fire personnel turned the woman over to Emergency Medical Services personnel.
She was taken in stable condition to an area hospital, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the Department of Emergency Services.
Assault of acquaintance draws arrest for man, 52
A 52-year-old man suspected in the sexual assault of a 45-year-old woman in Waikiki early Sunday morning has been arrested.
Police said the two are acquaintances.
The man was arrested for investigation of first-degree sexual assault, police said.
No further details were provided.
