Pacific Command enlisted leader gets promotion

Air Force Command Chief Master Sgt. James A. Roy, the senior enlisted leader and adviser to the U.S. Pacific Command at Camp Smith, will become the next chief master sergeant of the Air Force on June 30. He will replace Rodney J. McKinley, who is retiring.
As chief master sergeant of the Air Force, Roy will be the highest enlisted leader in the Air Force and will advise the chief of staff and the secretary of the Air Force on the welfare, readiness, morale and proper use and progress of the enlisted force.
Roy joined the Air Force in 1982.
Before assuming his current position, he was the command chief master sergeant for U.S. Forces Japan and 5th Air Force at Yokota Air Base in Japan.
