» Shane Victorino (St. Anthony) went 0-for-5 batting leadoff in yesterday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Dodgers. Victorino missed the previous two games after straining his left hip in Wednesday's game against the Padres. Prior to the injury, the speedy center-fielder was hitting 19-for-41 (.463) with nine runs and four stolen bases in his last 10 games.
» Tyler Yates (Kauai) reported no pain in his injured right elbow after throwing from the mound on Friday. The righty reliever has been sidelined since May 16 and is likely to go on a minor league injury rehabilitation assignment some time next week, according to Yahoo! Sports.
» Kila Ka'aihue ('Iolani) currently leads the Pacific Coast League with 49 walks. But despite his customary plate discipline, the slugger is homerless in his last 10 games.
» Jerome Williams (Waipahu) allowed four runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings of relief on Thursday, raising his season ERA to 8.03.
» Kanekoa Texeira (Kamehameha) pitched three shutout innings of relief to pick up his second save of the season in Trenton's 8-0 victory over the Bowie Baysox on Thursday. The right-hander has allowed only one hit in his last 10 1/3 innings, striking out seven and lowering his ERA to 3.25 for the season.
» The Texas Rangers organization released right-handed pitcher Kea Kometani (Punahou) on Thursday, three days after he allowed two runs on three hits in two innings pitching for the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders.
» Kris Sanchez (Hawaii) will represent Single-A Clinton LumberKings in the Midwest League All-Star game on June 23.
» Esteban Lopez (Hawaii) is hitless in 13 at-bats since being activated by Single-A Great Lakes on May 28.
» Matt Daly (Hawaii) continues to impress in his role as closer for Single-A Lansing. The righty has allowed only two runs in his last 11 innings, fanning 13 and walking five. He is currently fifth in the Midwest League with nine saves.
» Shane Komine (Kalani) was activated from the disabled list by the Newark Bears of the independent Atlantic League on May 31. The former Oakland Athletics pitcher threw 3 1/3 innings in relief on Thursday, striking out three to earn his first win of the season.
» Dusty Bergman (Hawaii) is tied for the league lead in wins (6) and is tied for fourth in strikeouts (49) and ERA (2.10). Bergman plays for Heidenheim Heidekopfe in Bundesliga Sud in Germany.
» Chris Balatico (Mililani) joined fellow Hawaii transplant and Mililani alum Gavin Ng in Germany playing for the Paderborn Untouchables of the Bundesliga Nord league. Ng and former Untouchables and Mililani teammate Cy Donald convinced Balatico to play baseball in Germany. So far the pitcher is 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA in two games.
» The Philadelphia Phillies oganization has hired Chris Truby (Damien) to manage the Williamsport Crosscutters of the single-A short-season New York-Penn League. Truby, a former major leaguer who played for Houston, Montreal, Detroit, and Tampa Bay, was a hitting coach last year for single-A Lynchburg in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. “;I am looking forward to the opportunity and am excited to be a part of the Phillies organization,”; said Truby in an article on the team's Web site.”;
