The bar formerly known as Mall Cafe is set to reopen under new ownership this weekend, with a launch party that's guaranteed to be one of the best Chinatown will see in 2009.

Former Sound|House and LOFT Gallery and Lounge co-owner Daniel Gray has struck out on his own to open SoHo—a New York-style venue that will also cater to local artists as well as scenesters. Tonight's grand opening will combine live art by Half/Scene: Art and Music Movement and the GroundUP Pirates with tunes courtesy the Nocturnal Sound Krew.

The ladies of Downtowne are back at Bar 35 this weekend with another party for women who love women.

Tomorrow's “;Tribute to the Jacksons”; will feature all the hits by Michael and his brothers—and even a few tracks by Janet Jackson (Miss Jackson if you're nasty) as well. DJs Ms. Angel and KSM are the night's featured waxmasters, with local go-go dancers Jackie and Mochi also signed up to participate.

Get ready for “;Hawaii Summer Salsa in Paradise 2009”; with an evening of salsa dancing at the Hard Rock Cafe Waikiki.

Nancy Ortiz, hostess of “;Alma Latina Radio”; on KWAI-FM, will welcome dancers from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday; save $2 on the $10 cover charge by getting to the Hard Rock before 11 p.m.

Along with salsa lessons and prize giveaways, Ortiz will also have tickets to “;Salsa in Paradise”; to give away during the evening.

The promoters behind the annual “;Bob Marley Festival”; have decided to throw a party next week for all of Hawaii's graduating high school seniors.

Wednesday's “;dopest, freshest, funkiest, hugest, superbad”; event is a collaboration between promoters Three Sexy Guys, Aloha Tower Marketplace and the March of Dimes Honolulu chapter. Doors open at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with more than 15 bands scheduled on two stages at Aloha Tower. Natural Vibrations, Rebel Souljahz, Ooklah the Moc, Kalani Koa, Smooth Groove and other local acts will perform live, with DJs spinning a mix of music between sets.

Tickets, priced at $20 and $40, are available at all Hawaiian Island Creations locations on Oahu, participating high schools and online at http://www.presaleticketsonline.com. All students attending must present a valid student ID at the door for entry.
