Teen allegedly molested 7-year-old

A teenage volunteer YMCA junior leader is facing charges that he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl.

An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment yesterday charging James Rouse with continuous sexual assault of a minor and three counts of third-degree sexual assault.

The mandatory penalty for continuous sexual assault of a minor is 20 years in prison.

The indictment charges Rouse with sexually assaulting the girl between June 26 and July 19, 2007.

The state says Rouse was under 18 at the time. However, a judge recently waived state Family Court jurisdiction, allowing prosecutors to pursue charges against Rouse as an adult.

Circuit Judge Derrick Chan doubled Rouse's bail yesterday to $100,000.

Fraud defendant faces new charges

A man already facing trial in federal court for his alleged participation in mortgage fraud is facing new charges that he stole and fraudulently used someone else's credit card.

Federal prosecutors filed a criminal complaint yesterday charging Bobby Wood with fraud involving the use of an access device.

The FBI says Wood helped another person apply for a credit card, then stole it and used it to purchase more than $7,613 worth of goods and services in March and April. When the authorized card holder confronted Wood, he told the person he did not have the money to pay off the charges because of a pending FBI investigation.

A federal grand jury charged Wood and four others with conspiracy, mail and wire fraud, making false statements on loan applications and money laundering in getting new mortgages for two homes on Oahu.

Wood was a loan officer for Accel Mortgage at the time. The other defendants include a co-owner of the company, a branch manager, the owner of another financial company and the broker-in-charge of a real estate company.
