Waikiki beach drowning victim is identified as Oregon man, 24

The city medical examiner's office has identified a 24-year-old man who drowned while swimming alone at a Waikiki beach as Ramakrishna Yennamani of Portland, Ore.

The drowning occurred Monday at about 9 p.m., police said. Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and pronounced Yennamani dead at the scene.

Women steal cash and jewelry in scam aimed at Kauai seniors

Kauai police are warning residents about a home repair scam apparently targeting seniors.

Police said two or three women have been soliciting home repairs or services, and in one case a deposit was given to them. The women did not return to do the work.

In another case the women stole cash and jewelry when they were invited into a home, police said.
