Molokai Airport will get a new fire station thanks to a $6.8 million federal grant, U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye announced.
Construction on the new fire station is expected to start in Sept. It will be located west of the existing Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting station at the airport.
An automated weather observation station will also be relocated to the new facility.
The U.S. Dept. of Transportation is also awarding $79,090 for the completion of noise exposure maps at the Hilo International Airport.
