Festival to show student films

The third annual Farrington Film Festival, taking place 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Friday in the Farrington High School Auditorium, will showcase the creativity of elementary, middle and high school students of the 12 Farrington Complex schools.

The free event is sponsored by the Farrington Alumni and Community Foundation with the goal of creating a place for students to be inspired by the work done by their peers and providing motivation for students to stay in school.

Outside the auditorium, student art from participating schools will be displayed. Representatives of Honolulu, Kapiolani and Leeward community colleges will staff information tables to encourage students to explore college options in the arts.

The school, at 1564 N. King St., is seeking door prizes for student filmmakers. Call 330-5501.

Military offered free massages

Anima Wellness is offering free 30-minute reflexology sessions to active military members, through June 4.

The foot-massage technique can help people who face the stress of service and of separation.

The complimentary sessions are available by appointment from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Anima Wellness is in the Connie Gayle Beauty Center, at the corner of McCully and Beretania streets.

Whiten teeth for charity

Dr. Wilfred Miyasaki will offer professional teeth whitening services at a reduced price as part of the 2009 “;Smiles for Life”; charitable campaign through July.

Fifty percent of the proceeds from the services will go to a local children's charity, Kids Hurt Too, and the other 50 percent will go to children's charities across North America.

“;The teeth whitening procedure is quick and painless, with excellent results,”; said Miyasaki, a Crown Council dentist. “;Most importantly, a few minutes in the chair can help touch a child's life forever.”;

The Smiles for Life Foundation is the children's charity organization of the Crown Council, an organization of dentists in North America. The foundation says it has raised more than $22 million since 1998, benefiting nearly 500 children's charities. Since joining the campaign, Miyasaki has raised nearly $30,000.
