Ronald K. Migita, chairman, president and CEO of Central Pacific Bank, was to receive the Boy Scouts of America's highest commendation today at the National Council's annual meeting in Orlando, Fla.

The Silver Buffalo Award recognizes an individual's noteworthy service to youth on a national level. The honor puts Migita, the 10th Hawaii recipient, in the company of 14 U.S. presidents, aviator Charles A. Lindbergh and Gen. Colin L. Powell, a release said.

“;As a kid growing up on Maui, I gained valuable life experiences and fond memories as both a Cub Scout and Boy Scout,”; Migita said in a written news release. “;Scouting has been very influential throughout my career as the instilled values are tremendously important in the banking industry.”;

Migita has served as a scoutmaster, district chairman council president and regional executive board member, and has been on the National Executive Board since 2002. He was named Hawaii's Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America, in 2003.

Migita serves as a member of the University of Hawaii's Board of Regents, a trustee for the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation and president-elect of the Hawaii Bankers Association.

In 2008 he was named president and CEO of both Central Pacific Financial Corp. and Central Pacific Bank.
