Tower collapse remains under investigation

Authorities continued yesterday their investigation into the death of a demolition worker killed when a cooling tower collapsed at Campbell Industrial Park.
The victim's body was retrieved more than five hours after collapse of the 120-foot structure at about 8:10 a.m. Saturday. “;He was pretty much at the bottom of the pile,”; Fire Capt. Robert Main said yesterday.
Main said information gathered by fire officials has been turned over to the Honolulu Police Department.
State Labor Department Deputy Director Colleen LaClair said yesterday that an occupational safety inspector visited the site Saturday and was expected to return today.
The victim, whose name was not released, worked for AG Transport Co. of California. Another worker escaped.
AG Transport was contracted by Hawaiian Cement Co. and assisted by Sans Construction of Hawaii. None of the firms was available for comment.
