A day which started with an impressive individual performance ended with a dominant team sweep at the Interscholastic League of Honolulu track and field championships at Kamehameha.

Saint Louis senior Trevor Mau broke the ILH record he set just two days prior in the long jump with a jump of 23 feet, 10 1/4 inches yesterday.

He also set a league record in the triple jump (47-1 1/2 ) in Wednesday's trials.

Punahou's boys and girls programs fired on all cylinders in capturing both team titles. The Buffanblu boys were assured victory early (they pulled ahead to win with 150 points over the 98 of Kamehameha and 91 of Saint Louis), while their girls faced stiff competition from the host Warriors.

But the Buffanblu girls flexed their depth and picked up scoring in each event, and the defending state champion Warriors eventually failed to match them race for race. Punahou won 197.67 to 167, but led by just six points through 14 of 16 tabulated girls events.

“;Very happy with the level of competition—the girls stepped up very nicely,”; said Punahou girls coach Duncan Macdonald, who thought Regan Balmoja's winning pole vault of 10 feet swung the team victory. “;Good things here and there, some things didn't come out as well as we liked but we made up for it in other places.”;

It was a drama-free meet for the Punahou boys, who picked up wins in the pole vault (Thomas Loui), 1,500 run (Lucas Lam), 400 dash (KT Tuumalo) and 4x400 (Cory Hiromoto, Kyle Olden, Jeff Pedrina, and Tuumalo).

“;We knew that Saint Louis and Kamehameha had their studs, you know, and Trevor Mau had a hell of a weekend,”; Punahou boys coach Micah Pavich said.

Punahou's Ashley Satterwhite blew away the field in the 100 (12.53) and 200 (26.00), while Damien's Jonathan Padron earned similar separation in the two boys sprints (11.00) and (22.50).

Joy Piotrowski won the girls long jump (16-11 1/4 ) and triple jump (37-1 1/2 ) for Punahou, while 'Iolani senior Chase Weber took home the boys discus (159-7) and shot put (49-1 1/4 ) to complete the two-event winners.
