The Honolulu Sunrise Rotary Club received $10,000 from the Friends of Weinberg Program upon completion of a service project for Help, Understanding & Group Support (HUGS), which helps families who have a child with a life-threatening illness or fragile medical condition. Rotary members renovated a playhouse and playground equipment at the HUGS office on Kilauea Avenue.

The club will donate the funds to the Sex Abuse Treatment Center, a program of Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children.

William K. Mahoe, treasurer of Operating Engineers Union Local 3, was named to the Board of Water Supply board of directors by Mayor Mufi Hannemann. He must be confirmed by the City Council. Jeoffrey Cudiamat, director of the city Department of Facility Maintenance, was also named to an ex-officio position on the board.
