Honolulu Police Chief Boisse Correa heads into contract negotiations in a strong position, having received the highest possible rating in his annual evaluation by the Police Commission.

The chief, whose contract expires in August, has not said publicly whether he even wants the job for another five years, but it would seem to be his for the asking, given that commissioners unanimously agreed that his work in 2008 was “;exemplary.”;

There's no such thing as a free newspaper

Rupert Murdoch is considering charging for online news content. His News Corp. papers include the New York Post and several papers in the U.K. and Australia.

The current business model of giving content away for free has long been a problem for newspapers. Pandora's box was opened many years ago, and the public now expects to get the news for free. But it's nowhere near free to produce. Many readers don't realize that as newspapers die, so does the “;free”; content they've come to devour.

Charging consumers is the way to go.

Bristol Palin sends a mixed message

That's the message from new sex-abstinence ambassador Bristol Palin, who hit the morning talk shows this week in her fledgling role, with baby Tripp and dad Todd Palin in tow. It was part of a New York tour, highlighted with a Wednesday event as part of National Teen Pregnancy Awareness Day. “;Regardless of what I did personally, I just think that abstinence is the only way you can effectively, 100 percent foolproof way, you can prevent pregnancy,”; said the 18-year-old single mom, daughter of former GOP vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. True enough, biologically. But emotionally, psychologically, teen-hormonally? THAT'S where it all gets difficult.
