A public school principal will win $25,000 for the Island Insurance Foundation's Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award.

The top principal will get $10,000 in cash and $15,000 toward a school project; two semifinalists will each win $2,000. The winner and semifinalists will be announced May 20.

The nominees are: Elynne Chung, Pearl Harbor Elementary; Patricia Dang, Kapalama Elementary; Janice Espiritu, Kaunakakai Elementary; Lanelle Hibbs, Kailua Elementary; Gwendolyn Lee, Kauluwela Elementary; Karen Liu, King Kaumualii Elementary; Carmilita Minami, Waikele Elementary; Mitchell Otani, Kaneohe Elementary; Carol Petersen, Mililani Mauka Elementary; Nelson Shigeta, Makaha Elementary; Stanley Tamashiro, Ewa Elementary; and Rene Yamafuji, Pomaikai Elementary.
