The annual Maoli Arts Month, or MAMo, revs up at May's gallery walk with exhibits at the ARTS at Marks Garage, the Louis Pohl Gallery and DaSpace.

The ARTS at Marks Garage (1159 Nuuanu Ave., 521-2903) presents “;Huna,”; a group show centering on the theme of “;that which is hidden; that which is revealed”; and the “;misappropriation and reclamation of Hawaiian spirituality.”; Artists include Kau'i Chun, Natalie Mahina Jensen-Oomittuk, Marquez Marzan and Carl Pao. “;Huna”; runs through May 30.
“;The Tip of the Spear”; at Louis Pohl (1111 Nuuanu Ave., 521-1812) presents contemporary Hawaiian art by the likes of Maile Andrade, Harinane Orme and Bob Freitas. Through May 29. Meanwhile, at DaSpace (1192 Smith St., 352-4960 or 429-3324), the spotlight is on artist Lufi Luteru. (On Tuesday, MAMo expands to include Chinatown Boardroom's “;Hua,”; another group show featuring emerging Hawaiian artists.)

» “;Residential Rendition: Left Out to Dry,”; a mixed-media installation by Hawaii artists Eli Baxter, Beth Uryase and Joseph Wilson at thirtyninehotel (39 N. Hotel St., 599-2552). The trio explores how Hawaii residents respond to heat and humidity with “;a startling number”; of fans—and how we discard them. Through June 27.
» Bar 35 (35 N. Hotel St., 537-3535) presents the artwork of Silas Stoddard, an artist from Oahu's North Shore. His bold, lively work draws on the interactions of the feminine and masculine elements of design. Through May 31.
» Black Cat Tattoo Studio (1157 Bethel St., 524-7580) features tattoo art by Richie Lucero and Jose Morales and “;the art of photography”; by Isidra Suga and Jared Zillig. Piercings will be available. Plus, deejay and cocktails through midnight.
» Catch a juried show at Bethel Street Gallery (1140 Bethel St., 524-3552), its third annual exhibit, featuring the fine art of 31 artists selected from hundreds who submitted their work. Through May 30.
» Ong King Arts Center (184 N. King St., 306-7823) is hoppin' as usual, with ON THE SPOT improv, Da Kini Bellydance experimental movement, poets William Giles and Jocelyn Ng, art by Ariel Eisen and Ryan Greenly and music by Pressure Drop, Quadraphonix and Taimane Gardner. Plus, DJ EKO from California will be spinning.
» Hawaii State Art Museum (250 Hotel St., 586-0900) features a long- awaited reunion concert by the Cruz family. The lineup includes father Ernie, the group One Right Turn (sisters Tiffa and Connie, with Tiffa's hubby Imua Garza), Guy and Ernie Jr.
