Bonk earns another title
Pacific (Ore.) sophomore Max Bonk (Hawaii Prep '07) shot a final-round 75 to win his second consecutive Northwest Conference championship by five strokes on Sunday at McKenzie Bridge, Ore.
Bonk's two-day total of 145 was five shots ahead of a trio of golfers at 150. The victory is Bonk's seventh consecutive win during the spring season.
Bonk will have to wait until selection day to see if he is one of five golfers chosen to compete individually at the NCAA Division III championships in May.
Wittig scores in big victory
Creighton sophomore Jeremy Wittig (Lutheran '06) scored the game's only goal with 10.9 seconds remaining as the Blue Jays defeated defending national champions Maryland 1-0 in a spring soccer game on Sunday.
The Terrapins ended Creighton's soccer season in the elite eight of the NCAA tournament during the fall, giving Wittig a sense of payback.
“;I felt like we came out with the intensity we needed,”; he told the Omaha World-Herald after the game.
