Applications due Friday for page jobs in Congress

Oahu high school juniors may compete for a summer job as a congressional page in Washington, D.C., under an application process announced by U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie.
Abercrombie is one of 72 House members who will appoint participants in the U.S. House Page Program this year. One person will be selected from Hawaii for the job from July 5 to Aug. 1.
Friday is the deadline for applications to be made to Abercrombie's Honolulu or Washington office.
Each applicant must live in the 1st Congressional District represented by Abercrombie, be a U.S. citizen, 16 years old before the July 5 start of the program, have completed 10th grade and have at least a 3.0 grade point average.
