It figures to be a long Saturday for Greg McMackin and the Hawaii coaching staff.

“;But it's worth it,”; McMackin said.

The staff hosts the second Warrior Football Coaches Clinic this morning, then conducts a practice and scrimmage in the afternoon.

The clinic is open for coaches of all levels and has attracted participants from Samoa and Japan this year. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with McMackin addressing the coaches at 9:15 a.m.

Punahou head coach Kale Ane will speak on the “;psychology of coaching,”; and new UH assistants Chris Tormey and Gordy Shaw will lead sessions on special teams and offensive line play. The offensive and defensive coaches will lead breakout sessions after lunch.

“;It's really exciting having the coaches here,”; McMackin said. “;We want to do a good job for the coaches because we're all in it for Hawaii.”;

The Warriors' practice is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Ching Field. Like last week's session on Maui, the team plans to practice for the first hour then hold an intrasquad scrimmage. Some of the returnees who sat out last week's first full-speed scrimmage of the spring are expected to see action today.

“;We're going to play more of our veteran guys and just get more reps,”; McMackin said. “;We've put other things in, so we're going to take a look and let them compete.”;

After today's workout, the Warriors have three more practices and next Saturday's Warrior Bowl at Aloha Stadium remaining on their spring schedule.
