Editor's Note
POSTED: Thursday, April 16, 2009
Welcome to the first edition of HILife in the new, redesigned Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
While there are many changes elsewhere on our pages this week, this section of the newspaper will remain largely the same. We will continue to provide quality features on the latest community events, concerts, movies, nightlife and stage productions every Thursday.
John Berger has been a familiar face within the local arts and entertainment scene for nearly four decades, and he will continue to keep track of the latest theater happenings in addition to general entertainment reporting. “;Island Mele,”; John's weekly look at the latest album releases by Hawaii-based recording artists, will also continue in HILife.
Gary Chun brings more than 20 years of journalism experience to our pages, and he will provide valuable insight into the local music and concert scenes. We will also count on the expertise of Features Editor Nadine Kam, Food Editor Joleen Oshiro and staff writers Burl Burlingame, Katherine Nichols and Nancy Arcayna to supplement our coverage.
Along with steering this ship, I will keep writing “;In the Mix,”; my weekly nightlife column. My monthly bar feature, “;Barfly,”; will continue to be published every fourth Thursday in HILife. We also hope to introduce an additional columnist or two in the coming months.
Finally, we can't ignore how important the Internet is for getting the latest information to our readers. Please visit www.starbulletin.com/HILife for expanded coverage of stories in our print edition, plus Web-only content produced by our award-winning staff.
It's an exciting week for us here at the Star-Bulletin. Mahalo nui loa for your support as we move forward during these challenging times.
