Dr. Dileep Bal, a state Department of Health District Health Officer for Kauai, has received the international 2009 Luther L. Terry Award for outstanding community service from the American Cancer Society. He was presented the award at the 14th World Conference on Tobacco Or Health held in Mumbai, India in March. Bal has also been an active volunteer leader with the American Cancer Society at the local, state, and national level.

State Rep. Corinne W.L. Ching and her staff raised $200.95 in their Living Loving Liliha Fundraiser, and will donate it to the Hawaii Food Bank. Ching's office sold donated food from Mitsuken, Mitsuba, and Liliha Bakery, small businesses in Liliha.
