THE ARTS

It's not too late to take part in Contempo 2009 benefit

Contempo 2009, the Contemporary Museum's annual fundraiser, still has a few seats available.

The Saturday event includes a gala dinner and dancing at Pier 19, with food by Chef Chai Chaowasaree of Chai's Island Bistro. The evening also features a major auction and sale of contemporary art by top local artists.

Original plans had guests taking a sunset cruise on the Hawaii Superferry. But the ferry shut its operations in Hawaii a few weeks ago, following a state Supreme Court ruling that a law allowing the company to operate while an environmental study was being conducted was unconstitutional.

The museum's gift shop and Neiman Marcus are showing Contempo works in a pre-sale through April 15. To view the pieces, visit www.tcmhi.org/contempo09_art.htm.

Contempo 2009 runs 6 to 11:30 p.m. To reserve a seat, call Gordon Wong at 237-5210 or e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
