N&K CPAs announced the following promotions: Wen Li to audit senior from audit staff; Charles Goodin to audit senior from audit staff; and Zara Nguyen to tax senior from tax staff.



Latin Business Hawaii has announced its board of directors for 2009: Officers are Marie Villa, president; Ray Cruz, vice president; Michael Steiner, treasurer; and Rebecca Garner, secretary. Directors are Julia Montenegro, Margaret Trejo, Shelly Gertsson, Dennis Kennedy, Dr. Mark Lane, Herman Stern, Jose Villa, Mario Nanguse and Rosendo Rodriguez.



National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization elected Kenneth L. Zeri to its public policy committee. He now serves as president and chief professional officer for Hospice Hawaii.



Andrew Abordonado, a Hawaii Pacific University Presidential Scholar, is the first HPU student to receive a Fulbright Award. The grant from the Japan-United States Educational Commission will enable him to study in Japan in the 2009-2010 academic year.
Abordonado will complete his study in Hokkaido and Tokyo on the Ainu people, an indigenous minority.
