DUI stop leads to weapons arrest

Police arrested a 43-year-old man late Tuesday night on a weapons offense and for allegedly driving drunk in Kaneohe.

Acting on an anonymous tip that a man had been spotted brandishing a handgun, officers found the man through a description of his vehicle.

Patrol officers stopped the vehicle and found a loaded handgun inside at about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver also appeared to be intoxicated, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded pistol and operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.

Woman accused of knife threat

Police arrested a 55-year-old Wahiawa woman who allegedly threatened to kill a man with a knife.

Officers were sent to a house in the 1900 block of California Avenue about 2:40 p.m. Monday and saw the woman holding the knife and threatening the man, 55, police said.

Officers asked the woman to drop the knife and she did, police said. She was then arrested for investigation of first-degree terroristic threatening.

Suspects flee after failed robbery try

Police were looking for two men who allegedly tried to rob a convenience store in Waipahu at gunpoint Tuesday night.

Police said the suspects, described as being in their 20s, walked into the store at a gas station about 9:50 p.m., their faces covered with their shirts, police said.

One of the men pointed a handgun at the cashier's head and demanded money, police said.

The cashier pushed the man away and then both suspects fled on foot, according to police. No one was hurt.

Police provided no further description of the suspects.

Bank employee foils check scam

Police arrested a 36-year-old Mililani man who allegedly tried to cash a stolen check.

Police said the suspect went into a financial institution in Aiea about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon and tried to cash a check.

An employee contacted the owner of the check and learned that it had been stolen.

Police said the employee called 911 and responding officers arrested the man for investigation of second-degree forgery, second-degree identity theft and unauthorized possession of confidential and personal information.

Tiff over pot pipe escalates to attack

Police arrested a 42-year-old Kaneohe man Tuesday for allegedly threatening an 18-year-old woman at a Diamond Head beach with a baseball bat.

Police said the woman was walking on the beach and dropped a marijuana pipe in the sand.

The man allegedly told the woman not to pick up the pipe, and used the bat to push her away from the pipe, police said.

The incident occurred at about 1 p.m.

The man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening near Beach and Diamond Head roads.

Police seek man in parking-lot robbery

Police are looking for a man who robbed a 30-year-old female parking attendant at gunpoint yesterday in Honolulu.

Police said the man approached the attendant's booth at 5 a.m. and demanded money, then lifted his shirt and displayed a handgun tucked in his waistband.

The man took the cash and fled on foot, police said.

Kalihi street fight leads to stabbing

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed a man Monday night in Kalihi.

Officers saw two males fighting in the street about 10:35 p.m., police said. One of them, the suspect, was holding a knife, police said.

Once the two were separated, police found that a 22-year-old man had been stabbed once in the arm, and was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said. The teenager was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Car break-in draws police to Palama

Police arrested a 21-year-old Palama man who was caught with stolen items in his car.

Officers were investigating a report of two men breaking into a car at Palama and North King streets about 3:25 a.m. Sunday.

They found a car parked in the middle of a street, next to a car parked along the curb and a man standing between them.

The passenger-side window of the curbside car had been shattered, police said.

Officers found the owner of the damaged car, who confirmed property inside was missing.

Officers then looked into the other car and found the stolen items, which were in plain sight, police said.

Officers then arrested the man who was standing between the cars for investigation of second-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.

Golf course scene of burglary attempt

Police arrested a 40-year-old man who was caught crawling out the window of a building on a private golf course in Honolulu late Tuesday, police said.

Officers checking an alarm saw the man as they drove up, police said. He was arrested for investigation of second-degree burglary. Another man was seen wearing a mask inside the building but he got away, police said.

Boyfriend accused of hitting woman

Police arrested a 19-year-old Kalihi man who allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face several times, causing a fracture.

Police said the suspect drove the girlfriend to a hospital about 4 a.m. Tuesday. He was later arrested for investigation of second-degree assault.
