Island Air pilots OK tentative pact

Island Air's pilots union and the company have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract after 16 months of negotiations.

The contract, which became amendable Nov. 30, 2007, provides for wage increases, work-rule improvements and furlough protection. It still needs to be ratified by the approximate 50 union members. Pilots meetings with local leaders of the Air Line Pilots Association are tentatively scheduled during the last week of April.

“;This agreement rewards the dedicated, professional pilots of Island Air for their hard work while allowing our company to continue to grow and provide excellent service to its loyal customers,”; said Capt. Charlie Ciszek, chairman of the ALPA unit at Island Air.

The pet-friendly hotel rooms will be on the second floor of Aqua Waikiki Tides, and on two floors of the Aqua Continental. Dogs will be greeted with treats upon arrival, in addition to in-room food and water bowls, doggie liners, a doggie bed and toy to take home.
