Honolulu Symphony honors 2
The Honolulu Symphony's board of directors made honorary members of Academy Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden and legendary surfer Laird Hamilton of Oahu and Kauai. Harden, a frequent visitor to Hawaii, has a long, acclaimed career on both stage and screen. Hamilton is recognized as a master surfer and the author of “;Force of Nature: Mind, Body, Soul, and, of Course, Surfing.”;

Jason Dusewicz will represent the Hawaii Chapter of the National Society for Arts and Letters in Washington, D.C., and compete with 18 other finalists for a $10,000 prize.

Bank of Hawaii promoted Margaret “;Peg”; Meagher to executive vice president of corporate compliance from senior vice president. She has more than 25 years' experience in the compliance area and held positions with the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Home Loan Bank Board, and Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corp.

Hawaiian Building Maintenance promoted Jim Birchfield to executive director of engineering services. He has 30 years of management and engineering experience, including as building engineer and director of engineering operations for the company.
