Search halted for missing fisherman
The Big Island fire department has ended a search for a 35-year-old fisherman missing since Thursday. The man was apparently unable to climb onto a rock across the channel and succumbed to the waves.
The fire department helicopter, divers and rescue boats searched about 20 square miles of ocean. Crews also searched about eight miles of shoreline before the search was called off yesterday afternoon.
