Getting to hit a hit with UH
POSTED: Sunday, April 05, 2009
The Hawaii football team wrapped up its first week of spring practice by strapping up the shoulder pads for the first time since Christmas Eve.
“;It felt so good,”; UH offensive tackle Aaron Kia said. “;Letting out some aggression. Kind of bad night at work last night, so I was happy to get out here and bang somebody. I couldn't wait to get out here.”;
The Warriors' third practice of the spring featured their first dose of hitting since closing last season in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, as the offense and defense engaged in team drills. The coaches repeatedly reminded the players to stay on their feet rather than take ballcarriers to the ground during the morning workout.
“;They hustled around and I thought for the first day they were completing passes and (the defensive players were) in position to make plays on passes. I thought they really practiced well,”; UH head coach Greg McMackin said.
“;For our first padded practice, we've got a lot of things we have to continue to get better on, but we're miles ahead of where we were last spring.”;
The Warriors' schedule this week includes 7 a.m. practices tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday on campus. They travel to Maui for practice and an autograph session on Saturday.
