Four native Hawaiian health care systems will receive a total of $460,139 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Hawaii's U.S. senators have announced.

Daniel K. Inouye, Senate appropriations chairman, and Daniel K. Akaka said the funds will be provided under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

They are in addition to $2.7 million in stimulus funding announced by the senators on March 13 for 14 other Hawaii health centers.

“;We are pleased these resources will help address the health care needs of native Hawaiians,”; Inouye and Akaka said in a joint news release.

Receiving the funding will be Ke Ola Mamo Inc. of Honolulu, $129,239; Hui Malama Ola na Oiwi of Hilo, $110,430; Na Puuwai Inc. of Kaunakakai, $111,385; and Hui No ke Ola Pono Inc. of Wailuku, $109,085.
