Mid-Pacific rolls past Punahou in ILH baseball

Mid-Pacific scored 13 runs in the first inning en route to a 15-3 victory over Punahou in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball game yesterday.
The contest was shortened to five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Alaka'i Aglipay's three-run homer in the top of the first gave the Buffanblu, No. 8 in the Star-Bulletin Top 10, an early lead. The No. 4 Owls roared back, beginning with Derek Tan's two-run homer in the bottom of the first.
Tan finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Justin Protacio added a double and three RBIs from the second spot in the order.
The first four hitters in Mid-Pacific's order combined to go 8-for-14 with four walks.
Punahou, the five-time defending state champion, fell to 3-5, five games behind first-place 'Iolani. Mid-Pacific improved to 6-2 and will visit the Raiders today.
Matthew McDaniel pitched a complete game, allowing three hits.

Breland Almadova went 3-for-4 with a home run as the Raiders defeated the Monarchs to remain undefeated in the ILH.
Starter Trent Miyashiro pitched three innings to get the win. Almadova worked the final three innings to earn the save.

Makana Ramie had two doubles as the Warriors shut out the Wolf Pack in five innings.
Kamehameha broke open the game with 11 runs in the second inning and cruised from there. David Lee and Tucker Troy limited Pac-Five to three hits.
