Team Clean, volunteers to give Palama Settlement a scrubbing

Talk about a good deed: On Saturday, Team Clean employees will converge inside Palama Settlement's main building to give the nonprofit organization a free “;makeover.”; The company will deep-clean the facility's interior monthly. Team Clean President Brian Keala Benz says, “;Businesses shouldn't be prevented by the economic slowdown from helping their communities. This is a time for seeking out new opportunities and taking action. For Team Clean, we can make a positive impact by improving the overall quality of a building that serves our keiki, ohana and kupuna.”;
At Palama Settlement, 20 Team Clean employees will begin the “;makeover”; process. Team Clean's partners and suppliers will also participate with volunteers and by donating cleaning supplies. Lunch for the team will be provided by L&L Drive Inn ...
Great bargain coming up at Stage Restaurant in the Honolulu Design Center to mark the restaurant's second anniversary. Tony Guerrero Jr. is chairman of the charity tourney. Registration is open for three-person scramble format teams. Entry for teams starts at $350. The Superferry has sailed away, and that eliminates the sunset cruise the Contemporary Museum had planned as part of its ConTempo fundraiser April 18. But the event will go on. It includes an auction and sale of paintings, photography, ceramics and sculpture by leading local artists. Co-chairwomen Cherye Pierce and Tiana Torii say the art up for bid will be the most in the benefit's 15-year history.
Patrons also will be treated to dinner and dancing in the transformed Ferry Terminal at Pier 19, with special effects created by Hawaii Stage and Lighting Rentals. Dinner will be by Chef Chai Chaowasaree of Chai's Island Bistro with service by Current Affairs. Tickets start at $500 each. Some of the art to be sold is on view at Neiman Marcus through April 15.
